We continue to advocate for policies and systems that better respond to the needs and experiences of Autistic people, families, carers, and supporters. Recently, we made a submission to the review of the Victorian Autism Plan, and there are also two important opportunities for the community to have a say on proposed changes to the NDIS.
Amaze has made a submission to the review of the Victorian Autism Plan (VAP).
Drawing on our community consultation, insights from Autism Connect, and contemporary evidence, our submission acknowledges the progress achieved under the current Victorian Autism Plan while highlighting the barriers many Autistic people continue to experience across education, health, employment, housing, safety, and community participation.
Our submission calls for a renewed, ambitious, and accountable Victorian Autism Plan that strengthens lived experience leadership and delivers measurable improvements in the areas that matter most to Autistic people.
The Australian Government is currently consulting on two areas of NDIS reform that could affect how Autistic people access supports and services.
We encourage Autistic people, families, carers, and supporters to share their experiences, insights, and ideas.
Lived experience perspectives are important to ensuring reforms are practical and responsive to the lives of Autistic people. You don’t need to be a policy expert to have your say. There are different ways to contribute, including making a written submission, answering consultation questions online, providing a video response, or requesting a phone call.
This consultation is seeking feedback on proposed changes to how NDIS participant needs are assessed and funded, as well as the NDIS Supports Lists that determine which supports can and cannot be funded by the NDIS.
The changes could affect how support needs are assessed, what supports participants can access, and how funding decisions are made.

We’re also inviting Autistic adults, parents, and carers to join our Lived Experience Network and help shape autism policy, programs, resources, and public conversations across Australia.
Members may have opportunities to review resources, advise on new initiatives, and share insights with Amaze, other organisations, and the media.
