As you know, at each AGM a number of Board positions are declared vacant and elections are held to determine who will fill those vacancies in accordance with the Constitution of Amaze.
Three Board positions are subject to election this year.
The terms of current director Nicole Rinehart expire at the AGM. Nicole has indicated she will stand for re-election this year.
The Board called for nominations in three expertise categories and accepted applications from suitably qualified candidates as follows:
- Dr Jason Coonan
- Mr Tom Reilly
- Research / Clinical
- Legal / Company Secretary / Governance
A ballot will be held to determine which nominee will be elected to the Board under the Fundraising Category.

As Nicole Rinehart and Vic Rajah are the sole nominees in the Research / Clinical and Legal / Company Secretary / Governance categories respectively, they will be declared elected to the Board unopposed in those categories.
I am delighted that the Board has received nominations from such a strong field of candidates for the available Board positions.
How to vote
This year, as per last year, Members may cast their vote in the Board election in one of two ways:
- by e-vote; OR
- by filling out and lodging a traditional paper ballot.
How to cast your vote by e-vote

You MUST be a member of Amaze and enter your MEMBERSHIP NAME and POSTCODE in order to cast an e-vote.
This information is required for voting security purposes only and will not be used to personally identify your vote.

Your e-vote must be cast not later than 4.00pm on Wednesday 22 November 2017.
How to vote using a traditional paper ballot
Please click here to download a copy of the ballot paper. Please print it out, complete it and either:
- mail it to the Returning Officer, Amaze, 24 Drummond Street, Carlton; or
- deliver your ballot in person to Amaze, 24 Drummond Street, Carlton.
- ballots must be received no later than 12 noon on Wednesday 22 November 2017.
The Board is the key body that governs Amaze.
The CEO is responsible to the Board.Board members have important duties and obligations.
All Board members bring skills and expertise that are of value to Amaze so that the Board can perform its functions properly.
Each year careful consideration is given to ensure that the Board is composed of Directors who will bring a range of appropriate expertise and experience to bear in the discharge of their role.
Participation by Autistic People
The Amaze Board is strongly committed to the active participation of autistic people in all aspects of the Board’s work.
We strongly encourage nominations from autistic people who satisfy the criteria set out in the Position Description.
The Board has implemented a range of initiatives designed to facilitate and support the full involvement of autistic people in our work, including:
- Recruiting autistic people as members of our Board Committees;
- Inviting autistic Board Committee members to attend Board meetings as Board Observers (to broaden and deepen their understanding of the Board’s work);
- Providing mentoring, training and other supports.
