Description Day 1: Autism Spectrum Disorder- Assessment and Diagnosis Learn about: » Characteristics of ASD » Indicators of ASD in infants * assessing adults » Screening tools » Standardised diagnostic and assessment tools » how to conduct a inferential diagnosis e.g. ADHD, other developmental disabilities, language disorders, learning disabilities, emotional disorders (e.g. anxiety, depression) » Report writing and follow-up Day 2: Intervention Approaches for Autism Spectrum Disorder Learn about how to work with individuals with ASD across the lifespan, including: » Autism-specific intervention programs e.g. ABA, RDI » Social skills training eg. social stories, video modelling, hidden curriculum, playground interventions » Facilitating communication » Positive behaviour support approaches Strategies to support Transitioning to adulthood » Classroom and curriculum modifications » Therapy for co-morbid mental health issues » Alternative interventions eg. biomedical approaches, pharmacological interventions This workshop is particularly relevant to Clinical Psychologists and Educational & Developmental Psychologists wishing to complete specialist CPD hours
