Who will be the ‘Giants of the Bay’?
Sea swimmers across Victoria are doing their final preparations for this weekend’s inaugural ‘Giants of the Bay’ race.
Five teams are competing for the Corporate Team Marathon, a 42km race over Saturday and Sunday, and around 40 competitors will be competing for the individual honours in the “Lighthouse Race” tomorrow.
The corporate teams are:
- The Brighton Icebergers – with the advantage of celebrity swimmer, Brad Ottens from the Geelong Cats!
- Colorpak Black Ice – used to cold conditions
- Couta’s – from Point Lonsdale and Queenscliff with local knowledge
- Sirens – an all female team with inner strength
- Tritone – Monash University Team – the young guns!
The teams have already raised around $50,000 in total whilst the individual swimmers have hit around $11,000.
“This is a already a tremendous result for Amaze!” says CEO, Murray Dawson-Smith. “There’s such an air of excitement around the event and we are looking forward to a fantastic weekend.”
